Mini Bag- Deep Orange Embroidery, Lao Lu

Mini Bag- Deep Orange Embroidery, Lao Lu

Organic hemp and repurposed embroidered textiles are used from the mountainous regions of North Vietnam.

***These fabrics are originally worn as jackets or skirts by the Hmong women, therefore no two are exactly the same. Embroidered patterns vary***

The Hmong tribe women create hemp fabric by growing, harvesting, drying, and stripping the individual stalks into strands. They then press the strands in a mortar, boil, spin and coat them with wax, and then weave the fibers on an old wooden loom into hemp fabric. Almost all year around the tribe women can be seen with hemp fibers wound around their hands, connecting separate fibers to make one usable thread.

The mini bags have an inside cotton lining and a pull string to be used as a wristlet or a purse pouch.
